Kate Maitland
Psychotherapist, Preschool Boost Lead
Kate works with young and primary-aged children, adolescents, and adults to provide tailored support for their needs.
Kate Maitland is a warm and experienced therapist and psychotherapist with a Master's Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Adelaide.
A mum of adult children herself, Kate brings real-life understanding alongside genuine clinical expertise — whether she is working with a young child, a teenager, or an adult navigating life's harder moments. She is equally at home helping a toddler through early developmental challenges, walking alongside a teenager navigating anxiety or difficult transitions, or supporting an adult through grief, relationships, identity, or simply feeling stuck.
Whatever you or your child are carrying, Kate brings warmth, curiosity, and care to every session.
-
Kate has worked across schools, childcare settings, specialist mental health services, perinatal and infant mental health, and community health — supporting clients from as young as 12 months through to adulthood.
She has been working at NACYS for the past six and her previous roles include work in perinatal and infant mental health, child development (at Yourtown) and ongoing teaching and academic work with the University of Adelaide.
-
She takes a trauma-informed, culturally safe approach and draws on a broad range of psychotherapeutic approaches tailored to each person.
Above all, Kate is committed to creating a space where children, young people, adults, and the families who love them feel genuinely safe, heard, and supported.
